Todd E. Chamber’s moral barometer had always been
questionable, but this was the first time he had
actually crossed the law. He was fully aware that if
caught, prison would be the only option, yet he was
still willing to implement his cyber program and reap
the benefits to the tune of 1.8 million a year.
As he sat in the car trying to decide what to do about
Daniela, he looked back on his life for the pass 3 years.........
It had all started when his foster brother got a good
job at a computer firm.
He had enrolled in computer programming classes, online.
He had become so good at computer programming, that the
task of coding had taken over his life.
Todd was good. He was very good.
To add to his professional portfolio, he had taken a course in computer security,
as well. He was
un-matched in his online classes. He tested
at the top, on all certification test. Yet he always
remained humble, because he never forgot his
secret. He couldn’t tie his own shoes, no matter how
hard he tried.
Todd had never understood why he couldn‘t, tie his
shoes, and he never asked why. Growing up in foster
homes, he had been called stupid so many times, that on
some level, he had begin to believe it. Yet, here he was, a
master in computer programming.
Todd had supported himself through school while working
as a security guard. He was tall, 6’1”, with a
boyish smile, dark blue eyes and short brown hair. Women
of all ages were intrigued by his presence, but rarely
approached him.
His foster brother had landed a job at one of the major tech
companies in San Jose, the center of Silicone Valley in
Northern
California. Todd was impressed with the money his foster
brother earned and secretly wanted the same life.
In an effort to be like his foster brother, he had taken
computer programming classes, online. After completing
his online courses, Todd worked hard to present himself
favorably in interviews. He was rejected again and
again..
After about a year of being beaten down, Todd
turned his attention in other directions. Even with his
low self-esteem, he realized he was extremely talented.
Earning enough as a freelancer to replace his security
job wouldn’t be a problem, when the time was right.
After displaying his abilities on a high
profile freelance job, he was approached by a group who
wanted to use his talents in questionable online activities. Todd politely refused the partnership, but the
seed had been planted.
He begin his own research and learned all he could about
the hundreds of thousands of offshore trust accounts
which the Department of Treasury was targeting. He was
fully aware that the IRS was forcing agreements with
offshore banking centers to provide complete information
on accounts held by US taxpayers.
He was also aware, through hacking into a couple of the
mainframes of offshore accounts, that the banks had
informed US account holders of the IRS’s intensions.
For a couple months, there was a massive amount of bank
transfers and money being moved around. Then almost just
as suddenly as the movement of money
had started, it stopped.
During the period when there were thousands of money
transfers per day, Todd implemented his program, to shave
off two cents here and four cents there. With all the
activity, he was certain that four cents taken from
hundreds and thousands of offshore accounts each month,
wouldn’t be missed.
He was right.
After all, who were they going to tell? The IRS? Todd
didn’t think so. He was smart enough not to tamper with
accounts which were inactive, only accounts which had
constant activity, were targeted by Todd.
It was an old method, which Todd re-constructed using
new methodology to match the updated security systems
implemented by the International Banking Centers.
After shaving off about $1.28M dollars in an 8 month
period, Todd built and laundered the money through a
couple of a_ult entertainment sites. It was no secret
that online adult entertainment earned massive amounts
of money annually. And since Todd’s web sites were owned
by a dummy corporation, he actually paid taxes on the
web site’s income!
Having the IRS snooping around because they had access
to how much money the sites were generating each month,
was not something he wanted to happen. And he knew
that each time there is a transaction of $5K or more, the
IRS was notified. So his solution was to legitimize
illegal money by paying taxes on it.
Todd fully understood that the authorities had a jail
cell with his name on it, every since he was a teenager in
foster care, but he never forgot his secret, and always
checked himself two or three times before making a move.
Never in a hurry, always in the flow, Todd E. Chambers,
award of the State of California since he was 7 years
old, was one of the top Cyber Gangsters, the Internet
had every witness.
Todd splurged on a used $120K sport car. But he
continued to drive his beat up Toyota to his security
job each afternoon. Besides the hidden Maserati and the
quick trips to major offshore banking centers,
including,
Switzerland, Cayman Islands, Bahamas, Singapore, and
Hong Kong, he lived a very normal and low keyed life.
To facilitate his need for more days off, Todd invented
a long lost mother who needed his attention, to gain
days off without pay, of course. It was during this
time, that he would often wonder where his real mother
was. He had not seen her since the State had removed him
from their home, because she had left him alone,
while out parting. A neighbor had called Child
Protective Services and the rest was a blur memory of
foster homes, some good, some not so good.
Growing up, Todd never understood why his mother didn’t
love him. However, as he got older he realized
that she was sick and didn’t really have a lot of
choices.
He often made it a priority to stay away from
people who reminded him of his mother. And going to school,
online, was the only education he could afford once he
started working.
Because he hadn’t had a lot of self-confidence, his love
life had always been a hit and miss. However, after he
purchased his new sports car, everything changed. All of
a sudden, women were giving him their digits. Because he
was a little frighten of the female spices, he took it
real slow, in deciding who spend time with.
He lied and said a rich uncle had died, and that’s how
he got the expensive sports car. Todd had no real bad
habits, except stealing from the very rich, and lying to
cover it up. He made it a point to always be respectful
to the authorities, because he himself worked as a ’rent
a cop’
He still felt alone inside. He had maintained
connections with most of his foster brothers and sisters
and that was the only family he knew. When pressured
with dating options, it was no surprise that he was
drawn to one of his
foster sisters.

After all, it had been women who looked liked his foster
sister, Daniela, who had often cooked his meals, helped
him with his homework and sent him to bed.
He had always been attracted to his foster sister, yet
he
had never acted on the enormous crush he had on her.
She was everything, a man would want, smart, h.o.t., and because she was a foster child like himself,
she understood him.
They spent hours together talking about old times,
watching movies and sometimes shopping. Daniela picked
out his clothes, and he helped her decide which dress or
pair of paints, looked better. It never occurred to him that
Daniela only considered him to be a brother, nothing
more.
He yearned for her, in ways that was certainly not
brotherly. But he could see she wasn’t having it. They
talked about their dates and their lovers, but never
touched each other in a personal way. They wrestled like
they had done when they were kids, but not with the same
results. Todd let her win, because he had to hide the
bulge in his paints. If Daniela understood what she was
doing to him, she never let on.
It was early on a Thursday evening when Todd got a call
from the Cayman Islands. He needed to make a short quick
stop in the Islands within the next few days. For some
reason, he wanted to take Daniela with him.
He told her what to pack and that a Town Car would pick
her up the next morning. Daniela followed Todd’s
instructions and meet him at the San Francisco airport
early the next morning.
The flight from
SFO to Miami and then a short flight to the Cayman
Islands, was without incident. It was when they arrived
at the hotel that Todd was finally dealt the blow he had
expected.
The hotel room had a single bed. Daniela immediately
responded by calling the front desk and asking for a
room with double beds. The five-star hotel responded,
immediately, and provided the couple with a room with
double beds.
Todd went through
all the changes like a zombie, he never said a word. He
allowed Daniela to do what she thought was best. It
finally occurred to him that, if he told her how he
really felt, perhaps things could be different.
Todd left the room
to make arrangements for his meeting the next day. He
instructed Daniela to get ready for a late dinner at one
of the island’s top eating establishments. Daniela had
made mention that she like the island because on almost
every corner, there was a bank, and no shortage of
expensive autos alone the streets.
Daniela never
asked him about his personal business. She was accepting
of him, without questions. She had to have known that
the trip was expensive, yet she never said anything. As
a foster child, you learn to trust your instincts, and
Daniela was a pro.
Later that night,
at dinner, Todd got up enough nerve to explain to
Daniela, without going into details that he made a lot
of money each month from the web company that he worked
for, part-time. Daniela listened, but he could tell, she
knew there was more to it then he was telling.
Finally, she spoke. “Ringer (that’s what they had called
him in the foster home) I know you aren’t telling me the
whole story, because I’m having to build a bridge to
tell you the truth about me.” She was serious, as her
eyes pierced into his very soul. “I got turned out while
living in the different foster homes, either it was some
family friends or a family member who abused me,” She
continued to talk, while holding here head down, “I’m a
lady of the night, I go out on dates with men in
exchange for money.”
Todd’s heart dropped. He had no idea Daniela was working
the streets.
Daniela continued, “I know you are interested in me, but
it just can’t be.” Our lives are jacked because of our
parents." "I see you as my best friend, and most
of all, like my brother.”
Todd’s heart was
broken. Yet, he understood. He looked at Daniela as a
tear rolled down her beautiful dark skin. He
understood. She was his sister and his best friend, and
to change that, would have been a life time mistake. A
sister and a friend is forever. A lover could be like
his mom, there one day and gone the next, and Todd
needed Daniela in his life, forever.
Upon returning to San Jose, Todd, shut down his illegal
operation. He diversified his profits into investments
that Daniela suggested based on the net worth of some of
her wealthy clients. He then paid for and enrolled
Daniela in web design classes . He knew the right girl
would come alone, and he would start his own computer,
security business, but for now, getting Daniela into a
profitable and legal lifestyle, was his main priority.
